SHOULD I BUY TRAVEL INSURANCE?

SHOULD I BUY TRAVEL INSURANCE?

How to protect your trip overseas, and yourself, from unplanned incidents

Why do I need Travel insurance?

Traveling can be an enriching experience, whether it is for business, education, or leisure. However, it can also come with surprises. Being unprepared can turn an exciting trip into a stressful ordeal, from flight delays and lost luggage to medical emergencies abroad.

Fortunately, GLICO Travel Insurance can help protect against these losses.

Are there some exceptions to the policy benefits?

Under the losses and delays benefit, additional expenses incurred due to the delay by at least 4 hours at the departure of the common carrier contracted by you (the insured) for traveling are reimbursed, but it is excluded if this event takes place in your home country (Ghana).

Assistance/Compensation for events that occurred during a trip that had commenced before the insurance period comes into force, after the diagnosis of a terminal illness, or to receive medical treatment, are not covered by this insurance.

Compensation for the loss of in-flight checked-in baggage would not be considered payable if the minimum period of 21 days has not elapsed. For an event where the delay of the checked-in baggage is less than 4 hours, compensation would not be covered

Who is covered, and when does cover begin and end?

•        Minimum age: 3 months

•        Maximum age: 75 years

Cover begins the moment you (the insured) depart from Ghana, provided it is the effective date of the Policy, and ends upon your return or expiration of the Policy.

Can I make changes to the insurance before the departure date?

Yes. You may change the period of cover before the effective date, that is, before the start date of the policy by giving at least 72 hours notice.
