GLICO Life Insurance LTD is proud to announce that its Managing Director, Maame Dufie Achampong-Kyei Obeng, DBA, ACII, has been named CEO of the Year (Life Insurance) at the 9th Ghana Insurance Awards, held on Saturday, 22 August 2026.

The prestigious recognition celebrates her outstanding leadership, strategic vision, and remarkable contribution to the growth and transformation of Ghana’s life insurance industry. It also acknowledges her commitment to driving innovation, improving the customer experience, and positioning life insurance as an accessible and essential component of financial security.

Since assuming leadership of GLICO Life in 2019, Maame Dufie has guided the Company through a significant period of modernization and growth. Her customer-first and digitally driven approach has led to the introduction of several initiatives designed to make insurance services more accessible, convenient, and efficient.

These include the *765# More Anidaso USSD platform, paperless policy applications, electronic premium-payment options, real-time claims notifications, and self-service platforms for customers and agents. She also championed the introduction of Smart Life, a digitally enabled insurance solution designed to extend financial protection to customers beyond traditional distribution channels.

Beyond digital transformation, her leadership has focused on operational excellence, employee development, customer satisfaction, financial inclusion and sustainable business growth. Her people-centred approach continues to foster a workplace culture built on collaboration, accountability, continuous learning and service excellence.

The award further highlights her contribution to the wider insurance industry. She serves on the Boards of GLICO Life and the Ghana Insurers Association and has contributed to industry development through the Life Insurance Sub-Committee of the Ghana Insurers Association. Her previous involvement with the Chartered Insurance Ladies Association of Ghana also demonstrates her commitment to mentorship and the advancement of women within the insurance profession.
