What is the Free Hospitalization Benefit?

It is a policy GLICO LIFE has put in place to alleviate the hardship its existing and prospective policyholders may suffer as a result of being hospitalized due to COVID-19 infection. The policy pays a daily cash income to the COVID-19 in-patient for a stated period to cater for any incidental costs incurred as a result of COVID-19 hospitalization.

Who does the Hospitalization Benefit cover?

The free Hospitalization Benefit covers all existing GLICO LIFE policyholders and prospective ones within the COVID -19 pandemic period

What is the free Hospitalization Benefit Cover Period?

The free Hospitalization Benefit shall cover a period of approximately three and half months. It takes effect from 10th April 2020 and ends on the 31st July 2020.

What are the benefits to be derived?

The policyholder, who is hospitalized as a result of COVID-19 infection, shall be paid an amount up to GH¢500.00 per day for each day the policyholder remains hospitalized for a maximum of thirty (30) days

When does the Hospitalization benefit payment Commence?

The payment shall commence from the first day the policyholder is hospitalized.

How does a new policyholder benefit from the free COVID-19 Hospitalization Benefit?

You just have to sign on to any GLICO LIFE insurance plans, especially the financial protection plans, between 10th April 2020 and 31st July 2020 to benefit from the free COVID-19 Hospitalization Benefit. Please click on “Products” on the website for more details on the GLICO LIFE products.

If, as a new policyholder, I sign on to a GLICO LIFE insurance plan on, for example 30th June 2020, will I only be covered till 31st July 2020?

No. As a new policyholder, your three month cover shall start from the date you purchase the insurance policy. So in the example above, the cover shall end on 30th September 2020.

How Do I make a claim for the free COVID-19 Hospitalization Benefit?

All policyholders can make a claim by visiting the GLICO LIFE website and complete a claim form online and attach any proof of hospitalization as a result of COVID-19 infection. After the lockdown period, policyholders may also visit the nearest GLICO LIFE office and complete a claim form and attach the necessary documents. Once a claim is admitted, GLICO LIFE shall pay the claim within forty-eight hours. Claims may either be paid via Mobile Money (MoMo), Bank transfers or through the nearest NIB Bank.
