Sir Daniel Charles Gyimah is a professional Chemical Engineer as well as a Chartered Banker with over thirty years’ experience. He is a Fellow of both the Ghana Institution of Engineers and Chartered Institute of Bankers (Ghana).
For almost a decade, he was the Private Sector Adviser to the Ghana Mission of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).
Sir Gyimah served as the Managing Director of Eximguaranty Company (Ghana), a company engaged in Financial Guarantees business in Ghana, from 1998 to 2001. He also served as the Managing Director of the National Investment Bank from 2001 to 2009.
He was appointed as the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Global Food Processing Company, Nestle (Ghana) Ltd, and the First Ghana Building Company Ltd.
Additionally, Sir Gyimah was the Chairman of the Metro Mass Transit Company Ltd, a company which runs intra and inter-city transport services in Ghana. He held Directorship position of the Global Petrochemical Company, the TOTAL (Ghana) Ltd and the AU Development Company Ltd, a real estate development company.
In the field of academia, he was the Chairman of the Council of the University for Development Studies (UDS), and also served as a member of the Governing Board of the Catholic University of Ghana for ten (10) years.
Currently, Sir Gyimah is an independent financial and engineering consultant in the AS Johnson and Associates.
Mr. Kwame Achampong-Kyei is highly regarded as one of the most successful and astute entrepreneurs in Ghana. He is a Fellow of the Chartered Insurance Institute of Ghana (CIIG) and a Member of the Chartered Insurance Institute (CII), UK.
He is the Founder and Executive Chairman of GLICO Group., which is made up of GLICO Life Insurance Company, GLICO General Insurance Company, GLICO Healthcare, GLICO Pensions, GLICO Capital, GLICO Properties among others.
Mr. Kwame Achampong-Kyei worked with the reputable American Life in the United Kingdom for many years before returning to Ghana to pursue his dream of establishing a life insurance company with a vision of bringing life insurance to the doorstep of every Ghanaian household.
After founding Gemini Life Insurance Company (now GLICO Life), Mr. Kwame Achampong-Kyei exhibited remarkable business acumen to grow and develop GLICO to become a dominant brand of choice in Ghana. Apart from GLICO Group Ltd and its subsidiary companies, he also owns and has major stake in a number of other companies, which provide employment for hundreds of Ghanaians.
At the industry level, he was a Founding Member of the Ghana Insurers Association (GIA) and served as the General Secretary of the GIA for more twelve consecutive years. He was instrumental in initiating and assisting in the establishment of a number of industry code of practice. He was one of the major brains behind the establishment of an oil and gas consortium (now known as GOGIP) following the discovery of oil and gas in commercial quantities in Ghana.
Mr. Kwame Achampong-Kyei serves on several Boards and his remarkable achievements have been recognized both locally and internationally with a number of awards including the prestigious Marketing Man of the Year conferred on him by the Chartered Institute of Marketing, Ghana (CIMG) in 2008, Order of the Volta, (one of the highest national awards, conferred on him by President John Agyekum Kufuor in 2008), Honorary Doctorate Degree awarded by the Commonwealth University in 2015, the 2019 Entrepreneur of the Year among many others.
Mr. Kwame Achampong-Kyei continues to pursue his entrepreneurial passion with verve and also inspire young people to exploit their God given talents and realize their dreams.
Mr. Forkuo Kyei is the Group Chief Executive officer of GLICO Group and a Chartered Insurer with over thirty years’ experience. Prior to his appointment as the Group CEO, he was the Managing Director of GLICO Life Insurance Company, the life insurance subsidiary of the Group for approximately ten years.
Having joined GLICO in 1992, he has played a pivotal role in the growth and success of the organization. He was instrumental in the establishment of most of the subsidiary companies under the Group and plays a key role in the growth of these companies.
Apart from being a Chartered Insurer and an Associate Member of the Chartered Insurance Institute (ACII) he also holds MSc in Insurance & Risk Management from Cass Business School City University (UK) and MBA in Finance & Advance Strategic Management from the Cardiff Business School, Cardiff University (UK). Mr. Forkuo Kyei is a product of Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) where he graduated with a BSc Development Planning degree.
Mr. Kyei serves on several company boards as well as boards of institutions including Liberty Centre Assemblies of God Church and the Assemblies of God University College.
Mr. Bernard Joe Appeah is the Chief Executive Officer of Pentax Management Consultancy Services Limited and Pentax Realty Limited in Ghana. He is an accomplished Development Management Consultant, Trainer and Motivational Speaker with both Local and International work experience.
He holds a Master’s Degree in Business Administration (1994) and an Honors Bachelor’s Degree in Economics with Statistics (1987) both from the University of Ghana. Additionally, he holds a Diploma in Investment Management (1990) from Turin, Italy, Diploma in Adult Training and Facilitation Skills (1997) from Aarhus, Denmark and a Post Experience Certificate in Project Management (1992) from the University of Bradford, England. He has attended and made presentations at several Local and International workshops.
His extensive career experience spans as far back as 1988 in the areas of Human Resource Management, Human Capital Development for Banks and Microfinance Institutions, Decentralisation, Monitoring and Evaluation, Corporate Governance, Investment Management, Institutional Review and Assessment, Business Process Reengineering among others.
He has worked and consulted for a vast number of organizations including but not limited to government institutions, international institutions and private sector organizations in the banking, finance, agricultural and insurance sectors.
Mame Dufie Achampong-Kyei Obeng (Mrs.) was appointed the Managing Director in 2019. Prior to her appointment as Managing Director, she was Executive Director/Chief Technical Operations Officer of the Company. Before joining GLICO Life, she was the Assistant General Manager in Charge of Risk Operations for GLICO General and later the Group Head, Enterprise Risk for GLICO Group.
She is a Chartered Insurer and an Associate member of the Chartered Insurance Institute (UK). She has over seven years work experience in the insurance industry. She has worked in different capacities at GLICO including being a Marketing Executive, Underwriting Officer, Claims Officer and a Management trainee.
Mrs. Obeng holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management with Economics and Marketing from Aston University (UK) and a Master of Science degree in Insurance and Risk Management from Cass Business School (UK). She is currently a Doctorate of Business Administration candidate with the Swiss Management Centre (SMC University, Zurich).
After obtaining her Master of Science degree in Insurance and Risk Management, Maame Dufie established and headed the Enterprise Risk Management Department of GLICO and worked conscientiously to significantly improve the Company’s risk management system.
Maame Dufie is also presently a board member of GLICO General and GLICO Healthcare.
H.E. Grant Ohemeng Kesse, a Planning and Development Consultant, holds a Post-Graduate Diploma in Planning (Notts), M.Sc. in Transportation Planning (London) and a Diploma from Imperial College.
He is a Fellow and past President of the Ghana Institute of Planners. From 1964 to 1976, H.E. Kesse worked in the Civil Service, rising to the rank of Deputy Director, Town and Country Planning Department.
He resigned from Town and Country Planning to establish a consultancy firm, Kesse-Tagoe & Associates, a firm of Planning and Development Consultants. He was the Chairman of the Board of Directors of GLICO Life Insurance Company from 1995 to 2006. He relinquished his chairmanship of the board due to his increased responsibilities with other entities.
His vast experience includes being a former member of the National Development Planning Commission from 2002 to 2006 and an External Examiner of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Kumasi for a period of twelve years. He was also Ghana’s Ambassador to the Federal Republic of Germany, from July 2006 to February 2009.
H.E. Kesse has served on several boards and currently serves as the Board Chairman of Kukurantumi Educational Fund.
His Excellency (H.E.) J. Ayikoi Otoo, who was called to the Ghana Bar in 1981, is one of the most highly regarded lawyers in Ghana. He is also a politician of repute. As a political and social commentator, he has contributed immensely to many national discourse on television and radio for many years.
H.E. J. Ayikoi Otoo served as Attorney-General and Minister of Justice from February 2005 to April 2006 and became a non-voting member of Ghana’s Parliament. During the period, he successfully led Ghana’s Delegation to international Arbitrations on a number of occasions.
He has served on Constitutional bodies such as Greater Accra Regional Lands Commission and Statutory bodies such as the Judicial Council of Ghana and Chairman of the Legal Service Board In 2017, H.E. J. Ayikoi Otoo moved to Canada, following his appointment as Ghana’s High Commissioner to Canada by President Akufo Addo, where he represented his country admirably.
H.E. J. Ayikoi Otoo is the founder of Otoo & Associates (Leo Chambers), a reputable law firm based in Accra. He has been an active member of the Ghana Bar Association and has held the office of Regional President and National Secretary of the Ghana Bar Association (GBA) for three consecutive terms spanning a period of three years (1998 to 2001).
As a legal practitioner, he has handled many high profile cases some of which have been reported in the Ghana Law Reports and Supreme Court of Ghana Law Reports.
In the corporate world, H.E. J. Ayikoi Otoo has served on a number of boards including being a member of the Interim Management Team of Sabat Motors and Chairman of the Board of Directors of SIC Insurance Company. He is also a Fellow of the Ghana Institute of International Affairs.
Mr. Stephen Badu has over sixteen years experience in insurance and occupational pension schemes management. Before being elevated to his present position, he was the Chief Business Development Officer (Group Business) of GLICO Life Insurance Company (GLICO LIFE).
Having joined GLICO as a Management Trainee, he has, over the years, played major roles in the growth of the company. He was appointed the Underwriting Supervisor a couple of years after joining GLICO LIFE. The satisfactory performance of his duties as the Underwriting Supervisor resulted in the Company reposing more confidence in him and subsequently tasking him to manage the Group Business portfolio in addition to other supervisory roles.
He worked tirelessly with his team to grow the portfolio to become one of the major sources of premium income for GLICO LIFE.
He was recently elevated to the position of Executive Director (Business Development) at GLICO Group Ltd to bring his vast experience to bear on the growth of the various subsidiary companies of the Group.
Mr. Stephen Badu, who is also a lawyer by profession, holds a Bsc (Land Economy) from KNUST and MBA from GIMPA. He also possesses a Diploma and Advance Diploma certificates in Insurance. He also obtained his LL.B (First Class Hons.) from GIMPA and BL/QLC from the Ghana School of Law. He is a member of the Ghana Bar Association, International Bar Association and the Chartered Insurance Institute (UK).
Mr. Stephen Badu has also participated in major courses and seminars both locally and internationally to add on to his wealth of knowledge.
Vida Kyei holds a Bachelor of Laws Degree (LL.B Hons) from the University of Ghana and a Bachelor of Arts in Integrated Development Studies (BA IDS) from the University for Development Studies, Tamale.
She was called to the Ghana Bar in 2014 having successfully obtained a Barrister at law certificate from the Ghana School of Law.
Her areas of specialty include commercial law, corporate law, investment law, land law and general litigation.
Prior to her joining GLICO, Vida Kyei worked with Ghana’s Attorney General’s Department, Center for Development Partnership and Beyond Aid.
Vida Kyei also serves as the Company Secretary for GLICO General, GLICO Capital, GLICO Healthcare and GLICO Pensions.
She is a member of the Ghana Bar Association.
